Formatting Instructions

Information on formatting, ensuring your PDF file is IEEEXplore compliant, and page limits.

Templates

Please format your final submission using the guidelines provided in sample_manuscript.pdf. The guidelines are implemented in the following templates:

  • Template for Microsoft Word users is here
  • Template for LaTex users (Unix) is here (use "bare_conf.tex")
  • Template for LaTex users (Windows/Macintosh) is here (use "bare_conf.tex")

Please note that you should prepare the final manuscript with no page numbering.

Ensuring your PDF is IEEEXplore compliant

Your accepted paper will appear on IEEE Xplore — the IEEE Digital Library — and it is important that your submitted PDF file meet the specification for IEEE Xplore® ( http://www.ieee.org/portal/pages/pubs/confstandards/pdfs.html). Failing to submit an IEEE Xplore compatible PDF file may result in the file not being included in the conference proceedings. Please refer to the IEEE document Simplified Requirements for Creating PDF files for IEEE Xplore for more information.

In order to assure that all submitted PDF files are IEEE Xplore compliant, we strongly recommend that all final submissions be created using the IEEE PDF eXpress service. Note that the IEEE PDF eXpress service can convert your paper from a wide range of formats to IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs. The service is free of charge for LCN 2008 authors and can be accessed using the following information:

  • Go to the IEEE PDF eXpress service at <http://216.228.1.34/pdfexpress/log.asp>
  • Click on the link "New Users - Click Here" and fill in your information. You will need the Conference ID — lcn08x (Note: the conference id is "lcn08x" with an 'x' at the end)

Page limit

The page limit for regular (full) papers is 8 pages and that for short papers is 2 pages.

Authors of regular papers can purchase up to 2 additional pages and authors of short papers can purchase up to 1 additional page. Each additional page costs US$100.

Final Paper Submission

The conference CD-ROM will be prepared by Omnipress. Authors of accepted conference or workshop papers will receive an email from Omnipress on how they can submit their final camera ready version to the Omnipress on-line collection system.

It is important that you save a copy of the email from Omnipress since a customised URL will be given to you to submit your final paper.

Further information on final paper submission will be available soon.

IEEE Copyright

Authors are required to transfer the copyright of their accepted papers to IEEE. This can be done electronically via EDAS. Log onto EDAS and click on the copyright logo © of your accepted LCN paper and follow the instructions.

Information on Author Registration

Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be presented at the conference.  Every paper accepted for LCN 2008 must have an associated registration at the full member or non-member rate. For a paper in which all authors are students, one student author must register at the full registration rate. For authors presenting multiple papers, one full registration is valid for the first paper, every further paper requires an additional paper fee of US$100 each.

The authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be presented at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered for the conference by the July 28, 2008 author registration deadline in order for that paper to appear in the proceedings and to be scheduled for presentation.
