Flow Control FunctionsThe functions for flow control and error control are a basic part of transport protocols. The flow control regulates the amount and speed of data being transmitted and the error control is responsible for the retransmission of lost or corrupted data. For these features new functions like selective retransmission or rate control have been proposed for the use in high speed networks. In this regard our activity is concentrating on a comparison of conventional and new flow and error control functions. For this purpose the performance is evaluated by means of both implementation (with measurements) and simulation of the mechanisms.
