High Speed Transport Protocol

With the introduction of High Speed Local Area Networks (HSLANs) such as FDDI (100 Mbps) the performance bottleneck has shifted from the network to the protocol processing in the workstations. Many existing transport protocols are inappropriate for the high speed environment. Therefore, new high speed transport protocols (or light weight protocols) are under development.
